Unbridled Trick, No. 9 in the center, outduels Sawyers Mickey, No. 8 at left, down the stretch Saturday to win the Juvenile contest at the Best of Ohio series at ThistleDown.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A horse with a crooked leg who had never won and a jockey who is lucky that he doesn’t have two broken limbs, stole the spotlight at Saturday’s Best of Ohio series at ThistleDown, the thoroughbred sport’s annual five-race series of $150,000 races.
Unbridled Trick, a chestnut gelding that co owner Christopher Duncan and-trainer Jason DaCosta Christopher Duncan bought at auction for just $1,300, defeated Sawyers Mickey, a colt who cost $280,000 in the sales ring, in a photo finish in the Juvenile.
